    Ace Face

I've gotten on the Facebook bandwagon and put up a profile. Having passed on the whole MySpace thing because it smacked a bit too much of teen highjinx and creepy stalkers (always a biiig concern of mine), I figured it was the best portal into the social networking madness. Still looking for ways to tweak the sucker and make it dance.

    Tastes Like Chicken

Chicken, in all its delicious forms, has been dominating my life lately. Our entire house smells like a certain chicken roaster after we tried out the rotisserie function on our new oven. The results were quite satisfying.

I'm a big fan of the guys behind Revision3 these days, and perhaps my favorite among their many fine web shows in Control-Alt-Chicken. See, there is the other chicken reference. The show, with its "cooking for the clueless" theme, is hosted by Alex Albrecht, who also co-hosts Diggnation and The Totally Rad Show over at Revision3.

More Josh pics up in my Picasa album. Here are a couple of my favorites.

    Happy Friggin' Dragon Boat Day

Ah, a holiday devoted to a suicidal drowned poet. We certainly don't have anything like that back in the states. There is no Sylvia Plath day, as far as I can remember.

Qu lept into a river as an act of political protest against a corrupt government. My favorite part of the Qu Yuan myth when his adoring followers throw rice into the river in an attempt to keep the fish from devouring his body. Perhaps if they had not been so busy throwing rice, we might not be commemorating his tragic demise today. And what's up with the vicious flesh-eating fish? If the the toxic sludge doesn't get you, just wait for the carnivorous fish and the rice throwing villagers. You're doomed either way.

Baby monitor keeps an eye on astronauts

An elementary school science teacher in this Chicago suburb doesn't have to turn on the news for an update on NASA's space mission. She just turns on her video baby monitor.
